Stratification Action and the Seed Sowing Rates on the Emergence of Seeds and the Crop Yield of Arctium Lappa L.)

Abstract:
Stratification of the seeds of burdock (over 100 days at 0 - +4° C) during the spring sowing greatly increases their field germination. Sowing rate has no effect on seed germination. The average weight of roots and leaves of the 1st plants decreased with increasing seeding rate. Increasing seeding rate stratified seeds from 20 to 80 pcs /lin.m, leads to a decrease in the average root weight per plant from 40.0 g to 19.3 g, and the leaves- from 51.7 g to 24.5 g, with the unstratified seeds sown average mass of roots and leaves with a plant by increasing the seeding rate is reduced by only 20-35%. Changing the seeding rate on yield of roots and leaves, produces the opposite effect. Thus, the yield of roots and leaves at sowing stratified and unstratified seeds increases with increasing seeding rates from 20 to 80 pcs. seed / lin.m. Moreover, the yield of roots and leaves of burdock in variants with sowing seeds stratified at about two times higher than in similar ways when sown unstratified seeds.
