Abstract:
It is known that, environmental factors typical for the area of habitat influence the shifts in metabolism and the levels of macro- and microelements (ME). To study the levels of ME typical for a certain population has become of importance. Pursuing from this our work was aimed at drawing up a «map» of element disorders occurring in Russia-s Northeast residents based on having made a risk assessment table. The risk assessment table on the element disorders observed in the children (10-14 years old) and adults (20-40 years old) residing in Chukotka and Magadan region was made with accounting for our data of Al, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, I, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Pb, Se, Si, and Zn found in the hair samples and based on the frequencies of elevated (excess) or lowered (deficit) ME concentration calculated from the conventionally permissible levels, that conformed to the upper or lower threshold of the element physiological norm. Found that, the common characteristic of the element system demonstrated by the residents of all the studied areas has been a deep deficit in cobalt, magnesium, iron, calcium, and zinc. Excess in manganese and heavy metals (Al, Cd, Hg) is the most typical for the continental areas while for the coastal area it is deficit in phosphorus. Children proved to have higher summarized percentage of the disorders than adults. In Magadan region the differences in microelement status were found in the residents of the coastal area compared to the continental one. The hair samples taken from the continental residents proved to have the elevated iron, manganese, lead, aluminium, cadmium, and potassium. The continental children ME status features more elevated silicon. In Chukotka-s girls no chromium excess was found while in Magadan region 10-13% of the girls had it. Magnesium excess was fount only in children of Chukotka-s continental area (in 20-41 %) while the rest examined subjects demonstrated its deficit. The boys and male adults residing in the continental area of Chukotka have been automatically enrolled in the risk group due to their chromium excess what can recommend carrying regular prophylactic measurements but individual examination and consultation of a bioelementologist for making up a personal «element portrait» cannot be excluded. To conclude from the above, it-s become possible to plan corrective measurements with given subjects, as well as to carry extra deep examinations with cohorts having most commonly occurred disorders in ME profile in order to reveal latent pathologies.
