The influence of dittander extract (Lepidium latifolium L.) on histopathologic feature of kidneys was studied in rats with experimental autoimmune glomerulonephritis (EAG) in case of monotherapy and combined introduction with prednisolone. EAG was reproduced by a single intraperitoneal injection of renal immunotoxin (RIT). Within 60 days the animals of experimental group received the dittander extract (Lepidium latifolium L.) in the dose of 300 mg/kg once a day. Plant nephroprotector dealcoholized lespeflanum was used as a reference agent in the dose of 5 ml / kg. Intact and control groups of animals received equivolume amount of purified water. Parallel to these groups of animals there were formed experimental groups that received similar research objects and in addition prednisolone in the dose of 6 mg / kg (Nycomed). The preparation of histologic specimens was made by standard method. Photomicrographs were made on a microscope «BIOLAM» combined with a digital camera and a computer. The obtained data let us state that the use of plant objects of lespeflanum and the dittander extract (Lepidium latifolium L.) does not prevent kidney glomerular apparatus damage, though it decreases it insignificantly. The effectiveness of preparations is proportioned. The use of prednisolone decreases the intensity of histological evidences of glomerulonephritis. Combined use of plant objects with prednisolone restores the histopathologic feature most efficiently, while lespeflanum is inferior to dittander extract (Lepidium latifolium L.).
