Abstract:
Behavioral effects of intraperitoneally administrated endomorphin-2, selective endogenous µ-opioid receptor agonist, were analysed. There were two methods of peptide injection: acute administration (5 mg/kg) right before every experiment and chronic postnatal administration (1 mg/kg, 1-14 days of life). It was shown that peptide caused changes in anxiety level, depression level and ability to learning (acquisition in passive avoidance task). These effects depend on injection method. Effects of acute administration of endomorphin-2 were gender-specific. Apparently, consequences of acute and chronic administration are caused by different receptor mechanisms.
