Abstract:
The new independent method of primordial deuterium abundance determination is discussed. The deuterium abundance is one of key cosmological values that characterizes the baryon density of the Universe. The method is based on analysis of HD/H2 absorption systems observed in distant QSO spectra. The obtained result is in good agreement (within 2σ level) with that derived from observations of the cosmic microwave background radiation. However, for more firm statements it is need a development of chemistry of interstellar molecular clouds as well as increasing number of such systems that will be possible with the advent of the foreseen Extremely Large Telescopes
