Wide-band tuned-gain amplifiers design method was presented. This method is based on cascading amplifiers with fixed gain followed by variable insertion loss attenuator. Main features of these type amplifiers class were analyzed, demands to parameters of there elements were established and design recommendations were formulated. Calculation relations and graphics needed to design these wide-band tuned-gain amplifiers were presented. Characteristics of one-, two- and three-chains amplifiers were compared. It was demonstrated that to realize large dynamic gain range two-chain amplifiers are preferable giving smaller partial amplifiers gain as well as small total noise figure.
