To ensure survivability, a corporate telecommunications network (CTN) must have mechanisms for predicting component failure, detecting the consequences of information attacks implemented, “learning” based on information about successful attacks and the occurrence of abnormal situations, changes in operating conditions and the ability to recover.
The most important properties that determine survivability, such as the performance of the CTN, are invincibility, determining the ability to prevent information attacks from affecting it, and invulnerability, determining the ability to maintain basic functions after component damage.
To solve the problems of monitoring the processes of survivability, a conceptual model of the CTN was built, which allows analyzing the network operation under the conditions of the destabilizing influences. The objects of the model are the purpose of the functioning of the CTN, determined by the quantity and quality of the functions implemented by the network - “reference network scenarios” (employee access to the Internet, messaging, remote interaction, access to corporate servers) by a variety of system components involved in implementing the functions.
A formal model of the CTN survivability index as a function of the survival of the CTN components after exposure to a variety of threats, averaged over all possible efficient network structures, is proposed. The concepts of a model for assessing survivability are formulated and formalized based on an analysis of the infrastructure of the CTN and a model for assessing survivability during the functioning of the CTN.
