Possibilities for constructing diagram-forming schemes for multi-frequency ring antenna arrays based on Butler matrices

The problems of synthesis of radiating systems for multifrequency antenna-feeder devices of linear stations of mobile radio communication are considered. The variants of construction of diagram-forming schemes of such antenna-feeder devices on the basis of Butler matrices are considered. The results of modeling various variants of constructing such antenna systems are presented.
The problems of the synthesis of multi-frequency radiating systems for antenna-feeder devices of linear mobile radio communications stations are considered. Considered options for constructing diagrams of such antenna-feeder devices based on Butler arrays. Radiating systems in the form of ring antenna arrays based on four log-periodic emitters and four symmetrical vibrators are considered.
Diagram-forming system of the type of the Butler matrix and the so-called «truncated» matrix, realizing at a certain frequency distribution of the phases, corresponding to the mode or special excitation modes, were considered. Phase distributions are calculated for detuning relative to the center frequency.
The directivity and impedance characteristics of these antenna-feeder devices in a wide frequency band are obtained.
Studies and calculations have shown that the use of beam-forming circuits based on Butler matrices tuned to a specific frequency, in combination with a broadband and narrowband ring antenna, allows these systems to be used in a wide range of frequencies, or in several frequency ranges, when forming directivity patterns of a special form.
