Research into the bactericidal effect of low-frequency ultrasound under changing parameters in the insonified medium

The article presents the results of experimental studies carried out in Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Burdenko Chief Military Clinical Hospital aimed at the evaluation of bactericidal effect of low-frequency ultrasound, while simulating in the insonified medium the conditions for existence of microorganisms in an infected wound, which was achieved by a considerable increase of the number of microbial bodies in the solution, an increase of its viscosity and insonification of microbial associations. The studies dem-onstrated that the increasing content of microorganisms in the solution from 45•103 m.b./ml to 50•105 m.b./ml as well as the usage of agar with the concentration of 0.1…0.5% as the insonified nutrient medium do not contribute to a significant change of the time of complete insonification reflecting the process of complete ultrasonic suppression of microflora for basic conditions accepted in this paper: the microbial suspension concentration of 45•103 m.b./ml and the solution concentration of 0.1% on agar.
