The article is devoted to the problem of recording the sounds of musical instruments by detecting the attack of each sound.
Each musical instrument has a strictly defined frequency range of sound: the wider it is, the more expressive the sound of the in-strument, the greater its ability to play high and low sounds. The sound range of a musical instrument is determined by a series of sounds, from the lowest to the highest, extracted by the instrument.
One simple way to detect a signal, which is widely used in radio engineering, is that the signal event is recorded in excess of its envelope of a certain threshold level. For this purpose, the comparator is used as a comparing device. Its threshold level is usually selected at least exceeding the noise level. At the moment when the input signal reaches the threshold level, the comparator registers this event, changing the polarity of its output voltage to the opposite.
The article proposes a method of sound detection based on the comparison of the envelope of sound with a variable threshold. The essence of the proposed method for detecting amplitude perturbations of the signal is that the threshold signal of the comparator is formed from the signal supplied to its input.
Analytical expressions for the parameters of the recording device and the signal, which can be used for practical purposes, are obtained.
