We propose a new method to determine periodic and quasi-periodic oscillations on the video sequence. The basis of the method is the phase-power spectrum components analysis of the frames in a video sequence. We found that if an object performs the reciprocating or periodic motions the constant of the phase-power spectrum is also oscillating.
We described basic models of periodic movement which either consider motion blur or do not take it into account. The results dem-onstrate that the proposed method, indeed, can be efficiently used in video sequence analysis to detect the periodic or quasi-periodic movement of the dynamic object in the frames.
Finally, we show the advantage of using the interframe difference of the phase-power spectrum constant-value to discriminate the type of object movement.
