Method for designing radiation-shielding systems that ensure the minimization of radiation levels beyond the service area

It is shown that the radiators and shielding structures should be considered as a single complex radiating-shielding system, which takes into account the mutual influence between all elements of the system. In connection with this, the problem of analyzing the current distribution in a closed system and the field inside a closed region is considered as an electrodynamics problem of analyzing a complex system consisting of different types of scatterers.
The method for designing radiating-shielding systems that ensure the minimization of radiation levels beyond the boundaries of the distribution zone is considered. The method consists of the following main stages: – design of the radiating system; – design of the shielding system; – development of a combined electrodynamics model of a radiating-screening system as a whole; – correction of the project of the radiating-shielding system based on the simulation results.
The main principles of electrodynamics modeling of such systems are considered. Three most common types of scatterers are included in the system: – essentially thin linear conductors; – surface scatterers of relatively small dimensions; – slightly curved extended surface scatterers. To take into account the interaction of scatterers of various types (according to the principle «each with each»), all equations within the combined method are combined into a system of equations by introducing operators that ensure the calculation of fields induced by scatterers of some types on diffusers of other types.
