Investigation of the process of electromagnetic energy conversion in an asynchronous motor with a combined two-layer winding

Asynchronous motors with squirrel-cage rotor are widely used in unregulated electric drives of industrial installations and technological complexes. In this case, a continuous operation mode for a constant load is preferable for such electric motors. The practice of operating asynchronous motors in unregulated electric drives shows that the overwhelming majority of electric motors undergo major overhaul. The purpose of the work is to consider an approach to creation of energy efficient engines in the process of overhaul by replacing standard three-phase stator windings with combined windings. As an experimental sample, an asynchronous motor with a combined two-layer winding, designed according to the «star in the triangle» scheme, was created. Experimental studies of the created electric motor were carried out with the purpose of studying the process of electromagnetic energy conversion in an asynchronous motor with a combined two-layer winding. As a working hypothesis of the research, the idea was proposed that, based on known design parameters of windings (both «star» and «triangle»), it is possible to predict and calculate the energy characteristics of a modernized induction motor after separate laying of the main («star») and combined («triangle «) windings and their connections inside the stator of the engine according to the scheme «star in a triangle». To test the formulated hypothesis, experiments were conducted to determine the power characteristics of the experimental engine for separate operation from a three-phase alternating voltage circuit (0.4 kV, 50 Hz) and with the simultaneous operation of both windings for unchanged loads.
