The focus in the paper is on basic technical solutions used in a multiradar surface movement radar (SMR) system based on MRS-1000 X-band surveillance radar with a continuous linear frequency modulated signal and a homodyne receiver.
The multiradar SMR can detect and track targets moving on an airfield and subsidiary roads.
The structure and characteristics of the main multiradar SMR components are presented. Data transmission from each radar in a multiradar SMR into one complex net for coprocessing is implemented by optical fiber communication lines with the network speed of 1GB/s.
Research of basic characteristics of MRS-1000 has been carried out. Each radar in a multiradar system is characterized by the instrumental range of 500 to 800 m, the detection probability of Рпо = 0.5 – 0.9 correspondingly measured on 1 m2 RCS reference reflector, the range resolution of not less than 1.5 – 2 м; the angle resolution of at least 1 – 1.50. These results are used in special software that can estimate integrated parameters of a multi-radar SMR. All tactical and technical requirements for perspective SMR systems such as detection probability, range and angle resolution, accuracy of target positions in Cartesian coordinates and average information update time are valid for the multiradar SMR system presented.
