Evaluating the signal detection effectiveness based on the Eulerian characteristics of the test statistic

Maximum-likelihood detection algorithm synthesized for a signal with unknown amplitude, duration and arrival time on the white noise background was analyzed. Crossings of a priory area boundary by the excursion sets of test statistic were taken into account. Asymptotic expressions for probability of false alarm and probability of missing the signal were found. The influence of boundary effects of a priori area on the precision of characteristics are investigated by means of statistical computer modeling of bell-like signal detection algorithm.
