Synthesis of photometric images of objects of complex shape by the Green's function

A method of Green's function for solving problems of computer image synthesis is developed. The proposed method is based on the property of linearity of the process of light scattering in inhomogeneous media.
The advantage of using the values of the Green's function in problems of calculating the brightness of surfaces of objects of complex shape with an arbitrarily given nature of the reflection of surfaces is that it is possible to preliminary calculate them for further «quick» calculation of the brightness of the object's surface in changing lighting conditions.
The validity of the method is confirmed by the results of mathematical modeling. The conducted studies using a two-dimensional model showed that the error in the synthesis of images by the developed method with respect to the diffusely directed nature of reflection of surfaces relative to the reference images did not exceed 5×10−3.
The practical value of the method obtained is that it allows obtaining physically accurate images taking into account an arbitrarily given law of reflection of surfaces, multiple scattering of radiation between optically coupled surfaces, and also shielding surfaces from direct illumination by external radiation. In this case, the construction of images is provided practically in real time, which is especially important in modeling dynamic images.
