The relationship between polymorphism of the gene for angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), cognitive functions of a brain and student’s anthropometric characteristics

In this work, we studied anthropometric characteristics, the psychological features of cognitive functions, the polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and the structure of their relationships among students of Moscow State University. The study of intellectual capabilities of people, such as the states of perception, attention, memory, and thought, is becoming more and more topical, especially in view of the growing significance of the role of brain cognitive properties in its various functional conditions and during organic disorders. The research of prognostic activity provides the opportunity to differentiate tested into different groups according to the prediction effectiveness criterion. At the same time, it is possible to study the formation of brain’s integrative activity which largely depends on maturity of man’s adequate behavior regulation processes and memory which in its totality allows defining the route of choosing the only correct prognosis in a problematic situation under constantly changing conditions of external environment. The study involved 88 people, including 49 girls and 39 boys. The full anthropometric survey was carried out, psychological testing by the method of "Prognosis 2.5", molecular genetic study of genotypes of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Testing method of "Prognosis 2.5" allows to differentiate contingent into 3 groups with different levels of intellectual ability. Depending on the ACE gene polymorphism statistically significant differences of some somatic traits, the most important of them – index of massiveness of skeleton, body length, high-rise diameter of the head in boys group, the lengthwise and transverse diameters of the head in girls group were revealed. The association between D-allele of ACE gene and decline in efficiency of prognosis activity was found.
