Waveguide bandpass filters use tuning elements. The latest’s can help to compensate deviations of the geometric dimensions of the resonators. Capacitive tuning elements (screws and stubs) are introduced into the middle of the broad wall of the waveguide cavity, where there is the high-e-field region. This may lead to multipactor breakdown of the waveguide at high power levels. These effects can be prevented by using inductive tuning elements. There are a thin curved metal plates, which are introduced into the middle of the narrow wall of the waveguide cavity (outside the high-e-field region). If the plate is set perpendicular to the magnetic field lines, it induced induction, eddy currents (Foucault currents). Turning the plate around its axis, you can increase or decrease the effective area of the plate that crosses the magnetic field lines. This can change the effect of inductive discontinuity and shift the resonant frequency. As an example, the E plane cavity in the rectangular waveguide with inductive tuning element is studied. The results of computer simula-tion of this structure are presented. The resonance frequency-versus-the rotation angle of the tuning element dependence is obtained.
