Dual microstrip power divider with improved performances

The power divider belongs to radio engineering devices of microwave range, namely to devices that divide power in microwave paths on two channels and provide high level of isolation (minimum possible transmission coefficient) between channels. Designs on step connections of the uniform microstrip transmission line sections are the most widespread. However, basic designs of power divider, as a rule, demand inclusion of additional matching elements for operation over the concrete frequency ranges. Creation of power divider constructions demands of statement and decision of enough complex problems of structural and parametrical optimization with the use of modern computer-aided-design engineering systems. Improvement of frequency characteristics of power divider at preservation or reduction of its length is achieved by solving the cor-responding optimization problems. Dimensions of microstrip transmission line sections and nominal values of the lumped elements are used as variable parameters. The compact design of a power divider on two output channels providing an isolation between channels not less than 25 dB over the frequency range from 2 to 4 GHz is presented. Owing to reversibility, the device can be used as a power combiner.
