The main anti-jam defense method of navigation receiver is spatial signal processing which provides significant (more than 40 dB) profit of jamming resistance. Nonidentity and nonlinearity of reception channels and jamming multipath causes low performance of spatial processing. Multipath utilizes spatial receiver degrees of freedom, hence, proves to be serious limitation for application spatial processing in navigation receivers in terms of jamming. Correlation of output samples of different antenna array elements can be used to provide space-time signal processing and multipath cancelling without extra antenna element. This factor is decisive in the choice of space-time processing over spatial only one. Moreover, space-time processing causes significant lowering of application cost. The paper introduces synthesis and analysis and potential properties of optimal space-time signal processing in jamming environment. Space-time adaptive processing (STAP) and jamming canceller which are the most popular among present space-time processing me-thods are compared to optimal one. Analysis shows that potential effectiveness (effectiveness of optimal algorithm) does not depend on multipath characteristics (power, quantity of reflections, delay, direction of arrival difference of jammer and reflections).
