Estimation of measurement error of movement speed in conditions of changing distance to located object

The article studies the estimation of the relative measurement error of the located objects movement speed in conditions of changing object distance taking into account both the characteristics of the meter and the measurement object. Equation characterizing the structure of the device for the optimal estimation of the located object movement speed is given. Equation shown, that allows expressing the measurement accuracy of the located object and describes the dynamics of change of a posteriori error of the measured speed. The expressions are obtained to determine the relative measurement error of the object movement speed depending on the distance to the radar meter in the polar and Cartesian coordinate systems including with regard to the shape of the antenna radiation pattern of the meter. It is shown that the instantaneous relative speed measurement error depends on the trajectory and the speed of the located object. It is shown that in the presence of fluctuations in the signal reflected from the located object should be used a priori information about the statistical characteristics of the fluctuating parameter. We obtained the graphic dependencies allowing estimating the relative instantaneous error in measuring the speed of the located object for one of the typical cases of its movement. It is shown that an increase in the signal/noise ratio, the observation time and some parameters of the meter reduces the speed measurement error. It is noted that the potential accuracy of the measurement of the located object speed can be improved by taking into account the degree of difference between noise acting on the processed signal and Gaussian noise.
