Assessment of trajectory processing algorithms in air traffic control radar systems: track detection

With the air traffic and surveillance facilities evolvement, many theoretical issues of tracking systems synthesis have been covered but not the ones assessment problems. The paper introduces a set of track initiation and detection performance parameters and its evaluation techniques. Parameters tested in typical for air traffic control radar tracking scenario. Comparative analysis of track detectors based on two approaches: sequential serial test and Hough transform was carried. Developed parameter set is useful for track detection algorithms assessment from the perspective of meeting radar tracking system performance requirements. The proposed indicators and methods of evaluation were used to obtain the experimental curves, characterizing the quality of the finding tracks algorithms on the example of the two detection algorithms that are based on serial tests and Hough transform.
