A new method of suppressing the parasitic oscillations in a lateral electric field excited piezoelectric resonators (LEF resonators). The method is realized in the composite resonator having a structure «glass plate with rectangular electrodes – air gap – plate of 128 Y-X lithium niobate». It is shown that there is an optimum width of the air gap, which provides good quality of series and parallel resonances in the frequency range of 3–4 MHz with a record value of the Q-factor of ~15,000 in both cases.
