Constructive particularities of designing of the antenna array with switchable polarization of electromagnetic field

Design of easy-to-manufacture antenna systems with minimum overall dimensions and specific radiated characteristics was always actual and practically significant problem of the antenna technology. Microstrip patch antennas pertain to such antennas, which having the great variety of excitation schemes and ability to radiate energy with linear, circular and elliptic polarization, possess the minimum overall dimensions, excellent repeatability, low cost and relative simplicity of manufacturing. In this paper possibility of making of phased array, ensuring radiation of the electromagnetic waves with linear and circular polarization by means of mechanical switching has been shown, its design philosophy have been described and results of the experimental studies of the features of the model of its fragment consisting of four radiating elements have been presented. Each radiating element represents itself a combined patch antenna manufactured in the form of monoblock. The different types of electromagnetic field polarization are provided by special construction of radiators and are achieved by mechanical switching. The combined patch antenna of very high frequencies can be used both independently and as a part of the antenna array or as a mirror antenna exciter in the focus of paraboloid.
