Vivaldi antennas are simple planar antennas that are very broadband. The polarization is linear. The Vivaldi antenna, sometimes re-ferred to as or the Vivaldi notch antenna, and also known as the tapered slot antenna (TSA), is easy to fabricate on a circuit board, and can provide ultra-wide wide bandwidth. The inventor of the antenna, Peter Gibson, called the tapered slot antenna a «Vivaldi» as it looked like the cross-section of an early trumpet. The motivation for the paper was the need for a wideband antenna array to be used with the accumulation radar. We chose the Vivaldi antenna because of its many advantages. The initial element design was optimized in an array, and the array was investigated for frequency bandwidth, gain, side-lobe levels. Radiation patterns are being analyzed. In our experiments, the collimator measurement technique was used in compact antenna range.
