Antenna-applicator with focusing properties for hospital application

The purpose of this paper is to offer the radiator of a spherical form possessing property of a focusing in strong absorbing medium. The radiator is close in its design to a microstrip antenna, differing that plates represent segments of concentric spheres with an air gap between them. The plates are connected in a point of a symmetry by a steel rod which is prolonged beyond the shield and used as a device of fastening. The approximate expressions for resonance sizes of the aerial and for a radiated field are obtained. The basic mode close to a mode originating in a disk microstrip antenna is raised between plates when set-up at resonance: it’s a standing wave with inphase allocation of the surface electric current. Electrodynamic simulation at a frequency of 915 MHz has shown that the offered radiator allows to form a focal spot in absorbing medium that allows to use it in hospital apparatus for a local hyperthermia of a human head.
