The development features of a centimeter-band active phased antenna array with a dome lens for a near-range radar

It has been shown that an active phased antenna array (APAA) with a dome lens had energy advantage in all directions of the top space hemisphere in comparison with the nearest analog – antennas placed on four-sides pyramid. An additional requirement for the APAA construction has been taken into account – provision of replacement of wrong receiving-transmitting units without removing the dome lens during the replacement process. The requirement has been satisfied by using a APAA space feed and a liquid-cooling system without setting cooling sections into the APAA receiving-transmitting units. The next features of the APAA construction and function with taking into account the dome-lens influence have been considered: rea-lization of a beam control system in the mode of monopulse direction finding, polarization mode, the receiving-transmitting unit con-figuration, the system of information distribution and an electrical feed, the very-high-frequency system for checking APAA serviceability.
