Cytogenetic investigation of lymphocytes of peripherial blood of workers of metal processing

In literature issues information about mutagenic and genotoxic activity of chemical substances used in technology of metal processing is announced. Present study aimed to investigate cytogenetic indices of lymphocytes of peripherial blood of people working under impact of harmful factors of metal processing for a long-term period. 31 workers from 2 shops from enterprise of heavy industry aged 35–54 years took part in the investigation. Control group was formed of 90 persons of the same age without contact with genotoxic industrial agents. Chromosoma were studied, detecting aberrant metaphases and chromosomal aberrations in lymphocytes of peripherial blood. Chromosomal aberrations in lymphocytes of workers from the 1-st shop were found more often, by 31.8% if comparing with the same ones of control group (p < 0.05). During cytogenetic investigation, alterations of chromosomas in lymphocytes of peripherial blood of people working under impact of harmful chemical agents of metal processing were detected. Genotoxicity of industrial agents manifested as chromatidial and chromosomal aberrations and correlated to level of industrial contamination. No significant differences of injuries according to sex and smoking were found.
