Development trends of spaceborne radar systems

This article deals with issues of application of modern spaceborne radar systems and their development. Spaceborne radar systems are principal sources of information about ground situation in combat areas, natural and technogenic disasters providing day and night surveillance regardless of weather conditions. Examples of realization such systems in Russia and USA are given. Requirements for quantity and quality of radar data for modern spaceborne radar systems are debated. Conclusion about practicability and possibility of creation of dual application system is reached. Guidelines for development of spaceborne partition of perspective Russian global information system are given.
