Field Statistics of a circular aperture antenna focused to the Fresnel zone Part 3. Correlation field characteristics

The work is continuation of the same authors’ papers (a first two review parts) in which mean and fluctuation field characteristics of a circular aperture antenna focused to the Fresnel zone under phase fluctuations in its aperture were considered. In this work (a closing review part), results of studying the correlation field characteristics of an uniformly excited circular aperture antenna focused to the Fresnel zone under phase fluctuations in its aperture are given. The phase fluctuations are assumed to be described by the function being uniform over aperture and randomly distributed by the normal law, with the zero mean. The correlation coefficient is assumed to be in Gaussian form. Obtained expressions for the complex field correlation coefficients, as well as for the correlation and mutual correlation coefficients amplitude and phase fluctuations of the field. Analyzed the dependence of mentioned above characteristics on phase fluctuations parameters – dispersion and correlation radius. The examination is made for two most interesting spatial cases – focal sphere and focal axis. The results obtained for the Fresnel zone of a circular aperture are compared with the analogous results for the Fresnel zone and far-field region of a linear antenna. Appendix contains most complicated and bulky derivations of basic relationships. The obtained results have a wide area of applicability. This is caused by that the knowledge of field correlation properties is necessary at an estimation of a random patterns spread (amplitude, phase, polarised in specified angular sector), necessary in turn at the decision of some important applied problems. It is possible to carry to them, in particular, a problem of the analysis of potential accuracy monopulse radars or the phase direction finders working in the non-uniform environment, calculation of reliability of an angular diversity reception systems etc.
