Methodology for developing multi-band reflector antennas

The article presents tested development methodology in practice multi-band antenna systems for high performance (MBAS) based on the two-mirror antennas and antenna combined with a single waveguide devices as a horn irradiator for all the bands. The methodological basis is founded on the following basic criteria: the achievement of maximum instrumentation in the operating range of frequencies in the synthesis of two-mirror antennas and characterization of the primary multi-band irradiators; achieving the optimal values of electrical characteristic in each frequency range by selecting the principles of frequency and polarization selection signals, and building a constructive multi-band antenna-feeder device; minimize the cost of development and manufacturing of the MBAS through the use of standardized basic design of antenna units (AU) with a parametric number of mirrors. The proposed methodology allows to minimize the reduction of the energy characteristics of the MBAS in each band relative to the corresponding ingle-band antenna. The high efficiency is provided by MBAS: using of modified TMSA, whose parameters are calculated from the conditions of formation in the aperture of a given distribution of the electromagnetic field at a fixed position in the feed phase center TMSA determined angular and linear dimensions of the primary mirror, and reflector element given function describing the pattern feed; selecting as MBAS irradiators corrugated conical horn with power circular waveguide, the most complete set of satisfying the requirements for feed MBAS; using to implement a combined frequency selection with a single radiator AWD receiving and transmit-receive MBAS consistent principle of energy of frequency bands based on bridge circuits with optional four couplers containing a low-pass filters; using for the separation of frequency bands that are in the band rectangular waveguide of standard cross-section of the frequency diplexers, containing the output of band pass filters shoulders and notch types. The implementation of the seareas allows us to develop and mass produce a number of basic designs of antenna devices with modified TMSA diameter 3.5 m, 7.3 m, 9.1 m and 12.0 m, which are used to create the MBAS in various combinations L-, C-, X-, Ku- and Ka-bands. Over the past decade have designed ACD based on a single horn radiator in the combined L/C, C/Ku, C/X/Ku, X/Ka, C/Ku/Ka, Ku/Ka and C/X/Ku/Ka- bands, characterized by a high level of adaptability, and the limiting values of electrical parameters.
