In this paper, a printed quasi-Yagi antenna based on monopole driver is presented. The analysis follows the classical principles proposed by H.Yagi and S.Uda. This quasi-Yagi antenna has been developed using three-step optimization and relative simple scaling to take into account the supporting dielectric substrate with relative permittivity equal to 2,5. The conjugate-gradient method is used for dimensional optimization of the antenna with a monopole driver. The rules of quasi-Yagi antenna pattern’s formation and impedance matching condition are considered. Experimental results verify theoretical approach. The proposed antenna is completely compatible with microstrip circuitry and should find the application in wireless communication systems.
