The spatial adaptive filtering of signals with unknown polarization

In this paper the generalization of the concept of spatial adaptive filtering on the case of antenna arrays which elements give a response on both polarizations of exciting electromagnetic field in arbitrary basis is done. It is shown that for the field with known direction of arrival and polarization vector the expressions for coefficients of spatial adaptive filter are generalized directly. For the exciting field with complete but unknown polarization the polarization vector estimation could be derived by the solution of the corresponding eigenproblem. This estimation is used for the calculation of the coefficients of spatial adaptive filter. The problem of spatial adaptive filtering of partially polarized filed is considered as a special case of the assigned and solved in this paper problem of simultaneous adaptive signals processing from multiple sources. The results of numerical modelling are given.
